Pupil with visual impairment in education system; retrospective case study

Bachelor's thesis entitled 'A visually impaired student in the educational system'; a retrospective case study deals with the process of integrating a visually impaired boy into the mainstream of pre-school and primary education. The bachelor's thesis aims to develop an appropriate theoretical basis for the issue of education of visually impaired children and on this basis in the design of a case study to describe and analyse the educational background of a visually impaired student. The thesis is structured into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part defines the basic circuits related to the topic of visual impairment. The first chapter of the theoretical part defines a child and a student with visual impairment and the concept of visual impairment and its classification. The second chapter describes the specifics of the development of a visually impaired child in the field of cognitive functions, motor skills, and socialization. The last chapter deals with the education of visually impaired children in general. The practical part is focusing on a detailed description of the inclusive process of a visually impaired child in mainstream kindergarten and primary school. It points out the aid measures and their use in education. Qualitative research was applied to fulfill the already mentioned goals. The research is based on observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Anamnestic data were processed in detail for the sake of completeness. The research found out that the choice of including a boy into mainstream education was a suitable option. It was also found that the boy was and is provided with maximum support from his parents and the socialization in his classroom was successful. On a practical level, the information can serve as feedback for the educational institution of an integrated visually impaired student. After appropriate formal and content adjustments, the text can be used for the processing of information material for the pedagogical and parental public.
Individual integration of pupils with specific learning difficulties in primary school

Bachelor thesis addresses the up-to-date issue of "Individual integration of pupils with specific learning disabilities in primary school". It is divided into theory and practical part. The theory part, worked out from specialized source, defines specific learning disabilities and describes its classification, symptoms, reeducation of specific learning disabilities in general . The practical part describes an example of good practice - Táborská Elementary School, where individual integration of pupils along with specific learning disabilities takes place. It deals, in addition to the characteristics of schools, school counseling department and course integration and several specific examples of the integration.
Self-concept of pupils with specific learning disability in group and individual integration

The theoretical foundation of the thesis deals with the term of specific learning disability, with its terminology, definition, causes, classification and reeducation. It further focuses on the education of pupils with specific learning disability, on the term of self-concept and on the older school age period. Practical part of the thesis includes the quantitative research made using the standardized SPAS questionnaire. Methodology of the research, research preconditions, targets of the research, analysis of the collected data and evaluation of the research results are described in the thesis. The bachelor thesis focuses on the evaluation of the role of school counseling facilities and their cooperation with primary schools in the integration of disadvantaged pupils into regular classes, especially in connection with the creation and adjustments of an individual education plan for these pupils. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part describes the necessary supportive measures and content of consulting services for the education of pupils with special educational needs, benefits and content of activities of school counseling facilities. The theoretical part has been elaborated based on the study of scholarly literature. The practical part is devoted to a research aimed at finding forms and efficiency of cooperation of counseling facilities with primary schools integrating pupils with disabilities in Mlada Boleslav.

Which School? Placing of the Child with Physical Disability in Basic Education

This bachelor thesis deals with the process of special education placement of child with physical disability in the Czech Republic. The thesis sees the process from perspective of parents and explores their role within. The goal of the thesis is to clarify factors which determine choice special education form - it means factors that influence whether a child will be educated in mainstream school or in special one. The thesis is based on the value of equity and on the right to education of every individual. Parents of disabled children are viewed as subjects of mutually interacting system. In the first part the thesis describes the legislation related to school placement of children with disability and submit statistic overview of special education. A comparative case study is the centre of the second part of the thesis. It compares four histories of decision making about suitable school for a child with physical disability. These histories were extracted from four interviews with their mothers. The thesis concludes that the parents of these children really are those who choose the special education form. But it agues that their choice of the form is more likely determined by coincidence of circumstances, rather than by clear factors.
